Switzerland is known for many things: its picturesque panoramas, artisan chocolate and cheese, private banking, the worlds most coveted watches and so on. There is a modesty and an extravagance here which creates a “something for everyone” lifestyle.
Whether you’re visiting one of the big cities or heading to the Alps, you will discover that the Swiss appreciate cars as well. Being such a small country, the prevalence of some of the most prestigious and coveted brands seems more concentrated then even Los Angeles or San Francisco, in my opinion. Being stuffed between Germany to the North and Italy to the South also means you see a lot of what you’d expect, or hope, to see: Ferraris, BMW, Porsche, Audi and every thing up-down and in between. It’s a car lovers paradise and it breeds car enthusiasts.
One such enthusiast is Jean-Claude Etter, the creator of Asphalte.ch. The site launched in 2007 with the mission of providing to the French speaking community high quality, original and well researched editorial and photographic content of the cars the team tests and special events they attend, ie. Geneva, Frankfurt, Detroit Auto Shows. As their reach increased, so did their desire to share their work with a broader community. Consequently, many of the key articles are translated to English!
Asphalte.ch also provides a forum community where subscribers can share their passion for cars with one another. Although you’ll find the forum in French, most of the participants and core team speak and write in English. Don’t be shy! Join in the conversation . You can also participate on Google+ and Twitter where its all English, all the time.
In addition to amazing content and lively forum discussions, Asphalte.ch created a meet-up in Nyon held on the first Sunday of every month, all year through. Here you will find Asphalte.ch community participants sipping and gabbing and snapping pictures. This event is for anyone and English speakers are very welcome. So do come out and say “hi”.
Finally, sign-up for the Asphalte.ch Newsletter and stay up-to-date with the latest news and activities in the automotive world and in Switzerland !
